July HAUG
by AJ
This last HAUG meeting saw a good mix of games played. There was Family Business, a card game where gansters face off to eliminate each others gangs.
There was the new Star Wars card/ship game. In which the rebellion kicked much booty!!! The game is pretty cool using the ships and sectors combined with the cards and dice.
We also played the OUT OF PRINT, Betrayal at the House on the Hill, an old Avalon hill game which has had MUCH Banter at the table lately. The cool factor in this game is the ending scenario changes depending upon which combinations of Omens and room are revealed. This game left quite an impression on those who played it.
And another game was played, The name eludes me at this time, where the players are ALL AGAINST the Game itself. A very unique twist for most board games.
All in all it was a very cool meeting. I'm looking forward to the next one.

4th Edition is here!
by Shard
Well we've been playing 4th edition for a while now and I must say, it's been quite interesting.
Our first impression is combat is Longer!!! But makeing the power cards really helped speed that up. Mobs have more HP and PC's do less damage comparitively.
I like alot of the combining of skills, that works out well, and the passive skill checks is what we've been doing for a while now.
Magic is a bit odd now, but we are adjusting, and the loss of multiclassing is less about haveing any particular class and more about having a particular skill now. At least that's how it seems.
The group is still getting used to my UNALIGNED PALADIN though. "nah, you go first I don't want to die." But it's quite cool to know he's got the highest spot, errrrr perception in the party! pretty funny stuff.
All in all it's interesting as we take on the keep on the Shadowfell. We've had 2 casualties thus far, a warlock and a wizard, but there've been a couple of close calls as well.
It's been fun so far.
